FRAMING!

We stopped by the site today to check and see if the framing had begun. We got there just after the materials were dropped off and before the framers arrived.

While at the site we noticed the builder, Jeff, was in the neighborhood and we had a few questions about adding a side entrance door to the garage and adding recessed lights in the Master Bedroom. While talking to Jeff the framers arrived. We stayed around for a little bit and watched them set up for framing.

One issue that was never really resolved in the planning stages was where to locate the windows in the Master BR. We originally wanted to just have 3 high mounted rectangular windows that were above our bed's headboard, but code prevents that. By code we have to have a secondary egress to the outside of the house and that meant either add a door or we go back to the original design of two windows. We decided to go with 2 windows and later in the afternoon Jeff called us to come out and decide where we wanted to place them.
When we got there a few walls were already framed and we talked to Jeff and the framer about where to place the windows. The problem for us is that our bed's headboard is integrated with nightstands and therefore partially covers the windows. There was really no way around that for us, so we just spaced the windows far apart enough to fit a standard King sized bed between it. After we decided where to put the windows the framers began building that wall.
